Serging with a Safety Net is now occurring quarterly!
This is a quarterly free-form sewing lab focused on sergers and coverstitch machines. How did we come up with this name? Well, if your serger sits in the box because you’re not sure you can get it to work, or you only use yours to finish seams because you’re afraid to reconfigure it to do anything else, you’ve been serging without a safety net. It’s like a tightrope walker without a net to catch her if she falls.
What if you could try flatlocking, cover-stitching, or a rolled hem and have someone right there to trouble-shoot problems (and help you get the serger back to your favorite configuration)? Would you be more adventurous? That’s serging with a safety net!
Ro George and Gay Anderson hold quarterly sessions where everyone can bring their sergers to work on their own projects. If you get stuck, they will help you past the problem and get you back to sewing. They know from their own experience that the path to proficiency is, well, experience! They’ve been where you are and want to help you build confidence.
Of course, if you’re an expert and just want to sew with your friends you’re also welcome! Bring your serger and all its tools and accessories, and any project you want to work on. The room has tables with plenty of room for cutting things out as well as for sewing. We’ll enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where we can get things done and have fun.
